Description du lieu patrimonial

The Pletsch Residence is located at 19 Sparling Street, on the east side of Sparling Street, south of Goderich Street West, in Seaforth, in the Municipality of Huron East. The two-storey red-brick residence was constructed in 1895.

The property was designated, by the former Town of Seaforth (now Municipality of Huron East) in 1990, for its heritage value, under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act, By-law 21 for 1990.

Valeur patrimoniale

The Pletsch Residence is a two-storey red-brick dwelling that was constructed in 1895. The residence is a good representation of the Queen Anne style of architecture, which was common during the late 1800s. The features of this style, evident in the Pletsch Residence, include the steeply pitched multiple rooflines and wide wrap around veranda. The residence also features detailed ornamental gables with heavily carved brackets and trim. The curved cast-stone window heads are of a unique design in the Seaforth area, as are the curved stained glass window heads of the living room and upper window. The opening of the front porch features a keyhole window.
