Description du lieu patrimonial

16 Hugh Street is on the east side of Hugh Street, south of Mary Street in the Town of Milton. The two storey red brick residence was constructed in 1886.

The property was designated by the Town of Milton in 2007 for its heritage value under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act (By-law 140-2007).

Valeur patrimoniale

16 Hugh Street is associated with Edmond Booth, a baker who operated a bakery on Main Street in Milton. 16 Hugh Street is a good example of a vernacular style in the Town of Milton. The residence has a rubble stone foundation with a red brick exterior. The roof has a medium gable roof with projecting eaves. The windows feature segmental window heads with brick voussoirs and wood window sills. The entrance is covered by a gable porch, which is located off centre on the east gable. The porch is enclosed on its three sides with lattice panels and has a round arched doorway with a keystone. The original four panel entry door has shaped glass in its upper panels.
