Description du lieu patrimonial

The former parochial house of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic parish at Brae, PEI, is a white shingled Gothic Revival style house. It is located in a pastoral landscape on a treed lawn across the road from the church. The registration includes the footprint of the building.

Valeur patrimoniale

The former parochial house is a well preserved example of a Gothic Revival Roman Catholic parish house in rural PEI. The parish was settled by Scottish Highlanders in 1827-28 and was originally known as the mission of St. Mary of the Brae. This house was later constructed in 1856 under the direction of Bishop Peter MacIntyre, the third bishop of the Diocese of Charlottetown.
