Description du lieu patrimonial

St. Michael’s Anglican Church is a Municipal Heritage Property occupying two lots at 28 Main Street in the Village of Quill Lake. The property features a Gothic Revival-inspired, wood-frame church constructed between 1907 and 1913.

Valeur patrimoniale

The heritage value of St. Michael’s Anglican Church lies in its architecture. The design of this otherwise simple church incorporates several Gothic-Revival elements that were common to ecclesiastical buildings of this period.

St. Michael’s Anglican Church is also valued for its longstanding use as a place of worship. The local Methodist congregation constructed the church basement and foundation in 1907, shortly after the formation of the Village. The church was completed in 1913. The property was the home of the community’s Methodist congregation and, later, the United Church congregation. In 1967, the United Church congregation built a new church and the property became home to the local Anglican congregation, who have occupied the property ever since. As one of the oldest buildings in town, it is a landmark in the community.
