Description of Historic Place
Veterans Peace Park is located at the terminus of downtown on Main Street in Smithers, British Columbia. The historic place is the park landscape and cenotaph structure.
Heritage Value
This park has historic, cultural, and social value as a park space that has existed since the town map was drawn in 1913. Formerly known as Alfred Park (1913-1995), the park space has shrunk significantly over time. The remaining portion is known as Veterans Peace Park. Veteran's Peace Park has historic value both in remembering world war history, and local veterans.
It holds social value as the location of the cenotaph monument since 1971.
