Statement of Significance

Description of Historic Place

All Saints Anglican Church is a small, Gothic Revival wood structure, located on Front Street in Grand Falls.

Heritage Value

All Saints Anglican Church was designated a Local Historic Place for being the first church built in the town of Grand Falls and for its Gothic Revival architecture.

The All Saints Anglican Church was built in 1850 following a visit by Bishop John Medley. The architecture of Anglican churches built at the time was strongly influenced by the design ideas of Reverend Edward S. Medley and his father, Bishop John Medley. They aspired to bring about a Gothic renewal for all of the Anglican churches in the Province of New Brunswick. This church is a good example of rural Gothic Revival religious architecture from the mid-19th century in New Brunswick.
