Description du lieu patrimonial

Sylvan Oaks is located at 7564 Tenth Line West on the south side of Tenth Line West, just west of Argentia Road in Meadowvale, in the City of Mississauga. The two storey red brick dwelling was constructed circa 1828.

The property was designated by the City of Mississauga in 1979 for its heritage value under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act (By-law 857-79).

Valeur patrimoniale

Sylvan Oaks is a Regency house with Georgian influences. Built by Jacob Scott circa 1928, the property has been in the Hustler family for more than 170 years. Scott originally dubbed the house Ebenezer Hall; however, it has been called Sylvan Oaks since the Hustler family bought the house in 1838.

The five bay symmetrical facade, massive end chimneys, entrance with sidelights and twelve over twelve paned windows are typical of Georgian style. The incorporation of Regency style is seen through the use of an encircling veranda with a tent shaped roof and stick treillage adding a touch of elegance.
