Statement of Significance

Description of Historic Place

The John Quinton Post Office is a one storey vernacular wooden building with a steeply pitched gable roof. Located in Red Cliffe, NL, the designation is confined to the footprint of the building.

Heritage Value

The John Quinton Post Office has been designated a Registered Heritage Structure because it has aesthetic value.

The John Quinton post office has aesthetic value as it is a good example of a nineteenth century outport post office. This small, unadorned building was constructed to serve a specific function within the community, its practical use taking precedence over the implementation of elaborate design elements.
